O’s Notes: Jazz Bata is selective tracks from Chucho’s Tema de Chaka (1982) and all of 1972’s Jazz Bata. Chucho (p), Carlos del Puerto (b) and Oscar Valdes (perc) form a traditional jazz trio on the earlier set. German Velazco (sax, fl), Jorge Alfonso (congas) and Enrique Pla (d) join for the later album. Chucho continues to impress us through the years.
