O’s Notes: This is spoken word, poetry on top of cool jazz. It is an unusual project that places the poetic verse of N-Side up front with the fierce work of the legendary drummer William Richard “Smiley” Winters behind him. Actually, the music was a 1973 session with Les Oublies De Jazz Ensemble but Winters is prominent. ‘Smiley’ has played with Bird, Billie, Trane and many others. You’ll even here his voice excerpts from an interview. It’s all intermingled and you can focus of each element in successive listening sessions. That’s gives us yet another amalgamation of jazz.
