O’s Notes: Canadian pianist Mike Allen visits the legendary Van Gelder Studio to record“Just Like Magic. He employs polished musicians, bassist Peter Washington and drummer Lewis Nash with support from co-producer Cory Weeds. The program alternates between standards and Allen originals. Allen enjoyed the interactive energy amongst the trio that placed him in the spotlight for the greater majority of the session and he’s up for it.
