O’s Notes: Just Yesterday is the documentation of the work created by trombonist Peter Tijerina while he was at Michigan State University studying under Michael Dease. Tijerina leads a band including pianist Corey Kendrick, bassist Aneesa Strings and drummer Nicholas Bracewell. Co-producer Michael Dease adds trombone on four selections and Diego Rivera plays tenor sax on seven tracks. They jump into action immediately on the opener “It Could Happen To You” leading a heavy, swinging and upbeat set that ends with a powerful suggestion, “This Could Be The Start Of Something Big”.
