O’s Notes: The line-up is Javon Jackson (sax), Fritz Wise (d), Doug Carn (p), Rodney Jordan (b) and leader Fuller on trombone. Jordan’s bass line makes “Maze” pop with intensity. Curtis displays a strong command of his instrument leading the melodies on “Girl Talk” and “Lover Man” while racing with Jackson on “A La Mode” a few of the highlights. The music is a combination of standards and originals, three from Fuller’s repertoire and one each from Jackson and Carn. It is a good set.
