O’s Notes: Take artists like Rodney Jones (g), ‘Fathead’ Newman (sax), Eric Alexander (sax), Steve Turre (tb), and guitarist Melvin Sparks and you have talent. High Note recorded this collection in SACD so the audio pops. The music selections were prime, especially “Delilah”, the funky blues of “Guitar Playah” and “A Few Miles From Memphis”. As you can see, this is a worthy follow-up to the first collection with the same name. ‘Can’t miss here!
