O’s Notes: Guitarist Richard Smith has brought us some of the best smooth jazz as a leader. For his Artistry debut he shares the stage with some of the best in the business including Brian Bromberg (b), Alex Acuña (perc), Jeff Lorber (keyboards) and Patrice Rushen (p, vocals). The collective is known as L. A. Chillharmonic and they deliver as anticipated. There’s a cool cover of Stevie’s “Boogie On Reggae Woman” and Michael Paulo (sax) sooths us on “What We Do Here”. We really liked the liquid funk of “Checkin’ You Out” and found all of the songs to be palatable. It’s a winner!
