O’s Notes: La Fama is a collection of trumpeter Mac Gollehon’s live performances during the period 1980-1986. He was centered in NYC with his cadre of musicians/friends. The upbeat percussion-laced rhythms serve as an excellent foundation for Gollehon’s soaring melodies. He frequently stepped into the clouds with his passages. Our favorites are “Casino” and the title track. Mac arranged all and wrote most of this music, a cool trip back to the 1980s.
