O’s Notes: This is flutist Mark Weinstein’s debut recording on ZoHo. He collaborates with Cuban jazz pianist Aruán Ortiz in creating a free jazz, Afro-Cuban fusion and a tribute many Avant Garde jazz artists. Gerald Cleaver (d) and Román Diaz (perc) join them on Latin Jazz Underground, a rootsy laid back set that is quite unique and adventurous, yet another flavor of jazz that works! Highlights are the opener “Gregorio’s Mood” and “Nature Boy”.
