O’s Notes: This session is about honor, respect and a timely dedication to the late B3 legend, Jimmy Smith. On the title track Jimmy cooks as he did in his prime while Joey explodes across the keys of a Palantino piano. Smith came prepared to play and he does just that. Legacy has the cool groove of the Hammond B3 played by current and past masters. They have strong support including drummer Steve Ferrone and guitarist Paul Bollenback who shines on the bossa nova beats of “Corcovado”. Jimmy even gets his mojo going with vocals on track 8! This has got to be a landmark B3 set.
