O’s Notes: Brazilian trumpeter Guilherme Dias Gomes assembles a fine team of musicians for Leste, his latest release. A full string section performs on four of the selections adding an extra layer of depth and symphonic sound. Guilherme produced, composed and arranged all eight selections combining festive enthusiasm and relaxed samba. We enjoyed both modes especially “Pro JT”, “Moak”, “Junto Sozinho”, “Fetiche, a soothing ballad and “Soul Blues”.
