O’s Notes: This is a jovial blues experience featuring a special cast of musicians led by Chris Brubeck (b, p, tb & vocals). He is joined by Joel Brown (g, vocals), Peter Madcat Ruth (harmonica, ukulele, vocals), with special guests Dave Brubeck (p) and Frank Brown (cl) later in the set. It is a live recording that captured all of the spontaneity of the moment. Looking at the smiles across the band on the CD cover gives us a strong hint of what is inside. The enthusiasm is contagious on songs like “Win The Lotto” and the unusual cover of “Take Five”. “Koto Song” is a warm reflective ballad that balances the set, one that we enjoyed more with each song!
