O’s Notes: Saxophonist Peter Furlan leads a large ensemble in a live session at Maureen’s Jazz Cellar in Nyack, NY. His band is Vinnie Cutro (t, flugelhorn), Neil “Nail” Alexander (p), Andrew Beals (a-sax), Erick Storckman (tb), Brad Hubbard (b-sax, b-cl), Joel Newton (g), Charlie Dougherty (b), and Nadav Snir-Zelniker(d). They play ten originals and despite the numerous musicians, present a crisp soundstage. “The Ice Committee”, “Blues Squared”, “Perfidia” and “Tim’s Arrow” stand out.
