O’s Notes: This was Shirley’s first appearance at The Monterey Jazz Festival (1994). At 60 years old, she is fine form singing and tickling the ivory on ten numbers. She is supported by Charles Ablest (b) and Steve Williams (d). We found this to be among her best recordings. It is clean and pure with no gimmicks, just feelings. Highlights are “The Look of Love”, “L.A. Breakdown”, “I’ve Got The World On A String” and “Here’s To Life”.
