O’s Notes: This is trombonist Bill Cantrall’s sophomore recording with much of the same cast. For act 2, he plays a live set at the Kitano Hotel in New York. Stacy Dillard is a fine compliment on tenor and soprano sax as they glide through six lengthy originals along with one cover, Cole Porter’s “After You”. We enjoyed the mellow ballad “Shaniece” but the showpiece is the title track running close to 24 minutes with guest artists Mike DiRubbo (as) and Freddie Hendrix (t) joining the party. It underscores Cantrall’s penchant for working with brass. This one swings.
