O’s Notes: Veteran bassist Charles Fambrough teams up with? at Philadelphia’s Zanzibar Blue club for a stirring live performance. His command over his instrument allows him to simultaneously anchor the lower registers while adding melodic accents as he walks the bass around the rhythms, all of this with excellent tonality. The music selections range from classics like “All Blues”, played in a 4/4 time signature instead of the prescribed 3/4, to new directions like the funky opener “K-Mac” and the Latin feel of both title tracks.
