O’s Notes: Long Story Short“is the debut recording for Italian, New Yorker, saxophonist Salvo Losappio. He leads a quartet with pianist Sacha Perry, bassist Ari Roland and drummer Phil Stewart. Two selections are Losappio originals notably “Boerum Hill” which showcases the entire band. We also enjoyed the fleeting cover of “Avalon”. While the 7 tunes add up to just over 37 minutes, they pack a lot of energizing bebop into the session.
