O’s Notes: French pianist Fred Nardin is making waves on both sides of the Atlantic, specifically the Paris and New York jazz scenes. He teams up with bassist Or Bareket and drummer Leon Parker for“Look Ahead, a program of eleven mostly original selections. We liked the percussion/tap/rap mix on ‘New Direction‘. There’s a nice blend of burners like ‘Look Ahead‘, ballads like ‘Prayers‘, and swinging blues like ‘Just Easy‘ that made us take notes. We are anxiously awaiting Fred’s next release.
