O’s Notes: Elan serves up a soulful dose of smooth jazz highlighted by warm ballads such as “When I Fall In Love” punctuated by the deep bass line from Alex Al. But the passion comes from Trotman who uses alto, tenor and soprano saxophones to deliver a solid dose of romance across thirteen tracks. Elan shares the spotlight on several tracks. Tony Terry picks up the mike on “Midnight Serenade”; Brian Simpson dances across the keys on “Heaven In Your Eyes”; and the bonus reprise showcases bassist Webster Roach. We also enjoyed the title track, one of a dozen written all or in part by Trotman.
