O’s Notes: Soft, warm, and inviting are words that describe the approach of vocalist Lauren White. She sings eleven selections starting with “I’m Not The Same Without You” supported by primary accompaniment from bassist Kevin Axt, pianist Quinn Johnson, and drummers Chris Wabich or Dan Schenelle. Brian Swartz (t) and Katisse Buckingham (sax, fl) play on four selections and Larry Koonse adds guitar on three others. Lauren speaks of romance from several angles. We enjoyed “Unlikely Valentine” featuring Swartz, “Tin Tin Deo” starring Buckingham, and “Lowercase” with guests Trey Henry (b) and Ray Brinker (d). Paul Jost joins White for a duet on “Vrohoula” with nice work on guitar by Koonse.
