O’s Notes: KCP is Karnataka College of Percussion in India. The beautiful scatting and vocals of R. A. Ramamani are unique. She aligns her tones with the other instruments forming warm harmonies. Many Ways combines the music of India with western jazz and blues rhythms. The resulting collage is intriguing and it will peak interests from both sides. Charlie Mariano has inspired this team and plays sax with Mike Herting (keyboards), T.A.S. Mani (mridangam) and Ramesh Shotham (kanjira, udu, ghatam, morsing) forming the worldly band. It is different but worth a listen to expand your horizons.
