O’s Notes: Brooklyn-based drummer, composer, producer Tomas Fujiwara leads Triple Double, a sextet with two horn players: Ralph Alessi (t) & Taylor Ho Bynum (cornet), two guitarists: Mary Halvorson & Brandon Seabrook, and two drummers: Gerald Cleaver & Fujiwara. March is a recording made just prior to the pandemic and peaks of racial unrest but it captures all of the angst leading to those explosive events. The intense discord, impatience and unrest are all illustrated in this spontaneous free fusion album.
