O’s Notes: This is the debut of drummer Phil Stewart as a bandleader. He teams up with his brother, saxophonist Grant Stewart, Chris Byars (sax), Sacha Perry (p), Paul Sikivie (b) and Joe Magnarelli (t) for“Melodious Drum. They swing through ten songs including three originals by Perry notably “Erratic”, and “The Doctor Is In” by Byars. Phil coaxes the most from his fellow musicians leading to an upbeat, foot-tapping set.
