O’s Notes: Danny is one of the new sax players on the contemporary jazz scene. He opens with “Meow Baby” and immediately stated his presence. He’s got a solid groove and invites guest artists for variety in the session. Ron DeJesus (g) plays on the mellow “Summer in a Hummer” and Howard Hewett sings on “Imagine”. Lerman brings fresh air to Sade’s “No Ordinary Love” then gets funky on “Gotcha” before giving us a taste of Latin spices on “South Beach Serenade” featuring Hubert Laws (fl). Danny partners with Christian Howe (violin) for “Amadeus Kiss” and Randy Brecker (t) and Steve Baxter (tb) add some funky brass to “Don’t GoGo There”. Lerman makes a strong statement here.
