O’s Notes: Composer and alto saxophonist Gaia Petrelli Wilmer brings us a jovial set of mostly original music on“Migrations, her latest release. She leads an octet that includes vocalizations from Song Yi Jeon and Victor Gonalves on accordion. These are peaceful renderings that form a suitable backdrop for reflection and relaxation. Among the best of the eight selections are “Crianada” and “Acuri” featuring strong contributions from Yulia Musayelyen on piccolo and flute. That one got our juices flowing!
