O’s Notes: This is Najee’s third release after seemingly disappearing for a while. The last two CDs reached #1 status and this one is arguably even better! This seasoned contemporary sax player is making yet another strong statement with Mind Over Matter. We felt his vibe on the title track followed by the relaxing “Love Forever and A Day”. Guest artist Eric Benét adds vocals for “We Gone Ride”, a mid tempo cut with a sophisticated horn arrangement. Then Jeff Lorber (keyboards) contributes the bouncy “Stolen Glances” to the mix. It is a well-balanced set with Najee adding punctuation on “One More Thing”. He sprinkles his magic in just the right proportions.
