O’s Notes: We welcome the second edition of Misfits (II) from Enoch Smith, Jr., a man who is beginning to craft his own mainstream groove! Enoch plays piano with Sangmin Lee (d), Noah Jackson (d) and featured vocalist Sarah Elizabeth Charles. Sarah’s soprano vocals are sweet, soulful and heartfelt making their arrangements of classics refreshed and rejuvenated. There are a couple of Smith’s originals included as well in a session that revisits a groove that could be characterized as R&B-infused jazz or straight up R&B. In any case we welcome the effort and hope to see Misfits III.
