O’s Notes: Trumpeter Gunn steps into straight-ahead jazz space with Mood Swings. He also has recorded some acid jazz for Justin Time. But this horn-led organ quartet plays traditional jazz. The other players are Cecil Brooks III (d), Eric Johnson (g) and Radam Schwartz (B3). The music has a cool bop feel with Russell blazing on “S. Crib” then swinging on “Night and Day”. This is the 5th session for Gunn on High Note and it’s another burner!
