O’s Notes: Terri plays drums and appears as a dependable timekeeper on numerous contemporary and straight ahead jazz albums. This is her 2nd CD as a leader 20 years after the first! We liked Real Life Story and on this one is even better! Terri invited many strong musicians to add character to the session. George Duke (p) plays on the title track and Nancy Wilson sings “Imagine This”. Patrice Rushen (vocals) and Kirk Whalum (sax) warm up “Dorian’s Playground” while Everette Harp (sax) and Dwight Sills (g) make “Everyday” funky. Carrington keeps the session popping with a groove that will appeal to a wide audience, especially on our favorite, “Papa San”.
