O’s Notes: Mark Sherman has produced many fine recordings as a vibraphonist. He also plays drums but spends most time composing on the piano, his first and most cherished instrument. The 88 keys are his focal point on“My Other Voice, a vibrant set with Vincent Herring (a-sax), Ray Drummond (b), Carl Allen (d) and Nana Sakamoto (tb). There are eight swinging tunes, including three originals and Sherman demonstrates a compelling mastery of the piano surrounded by an impressive team.
