O’s Notes: The Roller Trio is James Mainwaring (sax, electronics), Luke Redfin Williams (d) and Chris Sharley (g, b, synths & programming). They are a creative band that combines rock and jazz-fusion with heavy doses of electronics. Several of the compositions like “A Whole Volga” evolve into dynamic exchanges after a lengthy, introductory warm-up. There is an open sense of adventure on “Milligrammer” and an infectious groove on “Mad Dryad”, a couple of highlights in a good session.
