O’s Notes: This is a musical interpretation of the tragedy of New Orleans resulting from the wrath of Hurricane Katrina. It could be greatly enhanced by an accompanying video. The free jazz format is appropriate and representative of the chaos, pain and disjointed events that followed. There was always a rhythm however disguised. It started with the racing heartbeats in the shock of the waves. Then we had hours days, months and even years of thriving pain for many victims. The final rhythms are those of hope represented by the chatter of birds as life returned to a steady (but slow) rebuilding, one not yet complete. No this is not traditional New Orleans jazz but a reflection of the tragedy.
