O’s Notes: Composer, bassist Mark Wade leads his trio with Tim Harrison (p), and Scott Neumann (d). The music is Wade’s transformation of classic pieces into modern jazz. The works of Harrison and Neumann are not a shadow in this very balanced program. Mark takes over the melody on “Saga”, “Iberia, Part 1”, and several others proving that the bass is much more than a rhythm section anchor. His interpretations of classical masterworks into jazz space expands the horizons of fans in both genres.
