O’s Notes: Bob is sparking what he terms new urban jazz. It is a blend of New York urban rhythms with contemporary jazz beats with occasional vocals to support the melody. Bob plays piano/keyboards, bass, drums, percussion and sings. It’s more than a one-man band as he gets brass help from Joey Sommerville (t), Najee (sax) and Marion Meadows (sax). Phil Perry croons on “Too Late” and Freddie Jackson takes over on “Natural Thing” before ASoulBorn raps on “Don’t Keep Me Waiting”. There are fifteen cuts, all flowing with neck bobbin’ beats of yesterday repackaged with fresh harmonies. This is the new urban jazz wrapped up on the title track with Della Croche leading the 1980’s-style rap.
