O’s Notes: Wallace is inspired by Malcolm X, Miles Davis, Coltrane, Martin Luther King Jr., Gandhi, Marcus Garvey and Paramhansa Yoganada. The music starts with a funky acid base with Roney’s whispering muted trumpet singing the lead. “Metropolis” swings and “Christina” allows for reflection before he opens up on “NeuBeings” with an African back beat. It then moves to a cool groove, some electronic beats before ending blue. All is focused on the title theme.
