O’s Notes: Pray for Brain is a trio featuring Christine Nelson on bass, drummer Jefferson Vorhees, and prominent guitarist Mustafa Stefan-Dill. They play eleven contemporary world jazz selections that are playful and interactive. The song titles are well matched to the content, especially on tunes like “Hawk and Mouse”, “Circus” and “Waltz”. Dill’s occasional use of the oud brings a definitive Middle Eastern flavor to the mix. None of the Above is a good set with lots of variety.
