O’s Notes: There are tight funky beats behind Steve’s screaming sax melodies throughout this session. Steve gets help from Brian Culbertson (keys) Paul Jackson (g), Tony Maiden (g) and Lenny Castro (percussion). There are smooth jazz tracks like “Love Letter” intermingled with cool funky numbers, some including hip hop lyrics like “Keep It Live” combining a vocal scat from Brevi with rap from Aloe Blacc. “Tonight It’s On” is a jazzy R&B number featuring mixed vocals from Mauli B and Charlene Hines. It’s a fresh and varied set ready for the sizzling summer parties.
