O’s Notes: Brazilian guitarist Baden Powell was a virtuoso starting at age five and rapidly ascending on jazz charts. Although he died in 2000 at 63 years old, he leaves us with a wealth of good music. These recordings were made in 1964 through 1977 and feature Powell playing solo, in small ensembles and along with an orchestra. There are two CDs packed with good music. Our favorites are “Samba Triste”, “Samba do Avin”, “Feitinha Pro Poeta” and “Eu Vim Da Bahia”.
