O’s Notes: Octopus Dreams is a modern jazz effort orchestrated from the bass chair by Bruce Gertz. He leads a quintet with Phil Grenadier (t, flugelhorn), Rick Dimuzio (t-sax), Gilson Schachnik (p), and Gary Feldman (d). We liked the swinging groove of “I’m Busy”, the rich brass on “Redacted”, and “Sea Worthy” in the set of seven originals.
