O’s Notes: Some of the most thought provoking music of the 1970-80s was written and recorded by the legendary poet/singer Gil Scott Heron and his partner Brian Jackson. While the years (decades) have passed, the messages remain relevant. That is reflective of Scott-Heron’s prophecy along with the difficulty involved in changing deep-rooted cultures. Charenee has a rich soulful voice and a great appreciation for the work. Additionally she invites Stefon Harris (vibes), Marcus Miller (b cl), Christian McBride (spoken word) and Malcolm-Jamal Warner (spoken word) to join the celebratory dedication. Aside from the stellar artistry, the messages will resonate in 2015!
