O’s Notes: This is a fine trio featuring leader, pianist, composer Darren Litzie, bassist Chris DeAngelis, and John Riley on drums. Most of the tunes are originals by Litzie. He infuses a straight ahead feel to these approachable modern jazz songs. They are swinging hard on both interludes “Brief Distraction” and “Last-Minute Thought”. They also play fresh arrangements of classics like “In Walked Bud”.
