O’s Notes: Mingo Fishtrap is a Texas-based band that is gaining more national acclaim with their fourth album On Time. Roger Blevins, Jr. (vocals, g) is the lead singer with Dane Farnsworth (keyboards, vocals), Chip Vayenas (d, vocals), Mikel Urdy (perc), Roger Blevins, Sr. (b), Steve Butts (t), Dan Bechdolt (sax) and Zol Waterhouse (tb). It is a large, diverse band that sings pop songs with great stories and a good message. The beats are cool with a funky swagger. The combination is danceable and party-friendly. At the bare minimum this is a strong, foot pattin’ groove.
