O’s Notes: This is a collection of world beat contemporary vocals with a futuristic feel. Staceyann Chin infuses spoken word on “The Resistance” and Regina Carter adds violin on “Pachamama”. Bassist Matt Brewer and pianist Carmen Staaf have an excellent interchange on “Cassandra” that also includes a fine drum solo by Antonio Sanchez. Guitarist Jordan Peters opens up on “Animal Instinct”. We also enjoyed “You Taught Me”. ONA is an interesting mix but one that we found to be quite enjoyable.
