O’s Notes: One of A Kind is a bit of a teaser, a 15-minute 4-song preview of a full album to be released later this year. It is Cedric Givens’ debut as a leader and it is a worthy effort. The rich vocals from Maria Stanton on the title track set the stage for a solid contemporary jazz/R&B encounter. But that’s what we’ve come to expect from Givens who work as a composer, producer, arranger and musician has been exemplary with Nemesis Bleu and N-Groove. Yes, it is a bit abbreviated but the content is spot on! We anxiously await the full release.
