O’s Notes: Vibraphonist Mark Sherman provides a soft swinging backdrop for guest artist Joe Lovano’ s warm tenor sax on “Moon River”. This is one of many cool numbers that have a special ‘chill’ factor. The other brass soloist is Joe Magnarelli (t) who makes a nice splash on “Gerkitively” and “My Princess”. Allen Farnham (p), Dean Johnson (b) and Tim Horner (d) are a strong rhythm section. Mark wrote 6 of the 10 songs on this CD and he continues to evolve as a leader. His strengths are not only as a soloist but also as a supporting member of the team, which he does exceptionally well. Relax and enjoy it.
