O’s Notes: Jeff leads a band featuring Ron Oswanski on the B3. They open cooking on “Duban’s Groove”. Joe Macnarelli (t), Mike Dubaniewicz (sax) and Rudy Peteschauer (d) take solos on that song making a statement that is underscored through eleven tracks. There are a mix of Barone’s originals and some covers including the Latin beats of “New Samba” but it is all cool jazz. They relax a bit on “If You Go Away”, one of our favorites along with the up beat title track. Jeff goes solo on “My Funny Valentine”, a display of his guitar prowess and a clean arrangement. The chemistry between the band is strong leading to an enjoyable performance.
