O’s Notes: This album showcases the warm trumpet tones of Carol Morgan anchored by Harvie S (b) and Rich DeRosa (d). Morgan’s melodies are especially sweet on “Nica’s Dream”. Her notes have unique inflection points and they are pure and clear, delightful to listen to. Harvie adds a cool solo on “Cella” and DeRosa does the same on “Dark Continent”, his own composition. Woody Witt (sax) joins the trio for “Sizzle” adding another layer to the mix. They wrap up the set with the festive bets of “Calypso Blue”.
