O’s Notes: Greg Lewis plays the Hammond B3 and leads a quartet paying homage to Thelonius Monk. There is some nice work by guitarist Ronald Jackson on “Skippy”. Reginald Woods breathes romance through his sax on “Ugly Beauty”. And drummer Newssheet Waits lights up the intro to “Zion’s Walk”. These are a few examples of the fine support Lewis receives on his way to pumping his take on 14 of Monk’s numbers. We found “Bright Mississippi” and “52nd Street Theme” among the best as Greg pushed the B3 past the edge.
