O’s Notes: Trumpeter Joey Sommerville plays trumpet and keyboards and leads a fine assemblage of musicians for Overnight Sensation, his latest release. He also wrote and produced all of the songs along with an urbanized version of “Caravan” featuring Jeff Bradshaw on trombone. Jeff Lorber (synth, b, keys) co-wrote “The Next Big Thing”, a funky, radio-friendly tune featuring Elan Trotman on sax. We also enjoyed the title track and the mellow ballad “Forever” in a good session.
