O’s Notes: Dan Jacobs has a warm voice on trumpet that is easy to embrace and enjoy. Ernie Nunez anchors the Latin beats along with percussionist Robert Mulligan. Both have cool solos on “Cloudcroft” as well as elsewhere during the set. Pianist Gerard Hagen and drummer Peter Pfiefer round out the band, a fine crew indeed. The program is a solid selection of covers including “Alondra”, Dan’s original and our favorite “No Hurry”. We understood the meaning in their phrases, the true testament of a smoking session.
